\”Aubade\” composed by Yoshimatsu Takashi and played by Shin-ichi Fukuda (guitar) and Yasuo Watani (harmonica). This piece can be found on the CD \”Tender Toys\”. \”There is a favourite expression of mine in Japanese literally meaning \’like an upturned toy box\’ and referring to a chaotic situation. Expressed grandiloquently, this album might be described as a time capsule, containing on the one hand my memories of the music of mankind as it occupies a place in my own mind, ranging from the music of the renaissance to contemporary music and from ethnic music to popular music. I hope listeners will approach this music in dream-like fashion with a smile on their faces, just like children playing in a room full of toys and not feel the urge, like a fastidious parent, to tidy up the toys strewn across the floor.
